BLESS THIS HOUSE

Bless this house, O Lord we pray
Make it safe by night and day.
Bless these walls so firm and stout
Keeping want and trouble out.

Bless the roof and chimneys tall
Let Thy peace lie over all.
Bless this door that it may prove
Ever open to joy and love.

Bless these windows shining bright
Letting in God's heavenly light.
Bless the hearth ablazing there
With smoke ascending like a prayer.

Bless the folk who dwell within
Keep them pure and free from sin.
Bless us all that we may be
Fit, O Lord to dwell with Thee.

Bless this house by night and day
O Lord we pray.

BRIGHTER DAY by Kirk Franklin

When I close my eyes and think of you
And reminisce on all the things you do
I can't imagine my life without you
It's like paradise now I know that it's real (um)
It's a mystery for someone to give their life just for me
What you did on calvary Makes me wann love you more

[Chorus:]
I never knew I could be so happy
And I never knew I'd be so secure
Because of your love Life has brand new meaning
It's gonna be a brighter day, brighter day

Never thought that I would smile again
I never thought the dark clouds would end
Never thought the dark clouds would end
Never thought that I could have a friend
That would keep me never leave me alone (um)

[Chorus]

CALLING MY NAME

How many times do I go against your will?
Then you forgive me, but yet I still turn
around and do the things
The things I shouldn't do 'cause I belong
to you, and I know you will come through.
Lord, I know I take advantage of your grace
here in this Christian race.

But yet I still hear you calling my name.
You're calling my name to come into your arms
To be saved from fear and harm
Knowing this, Lord, I still choose to go my way

Then you still say, you say that "I am He"
He who supplies your every need
Oh Lord, I've sinned, but you're still ca-allin'
MY NAME!

(NOTE: The meaning of Christian "race" is likened to a marathon rather than a particular ethnicity)

1) Entrances
        a) We start out with SOFT "H" attacks on UPBEATS
           (i.e. "H-Ah am God, H-all by Myself...").
        b) From the soprano/alto entrance "I can handle things," entrances
           are on the DOWNBEAT.
        c) From "I am the first," attacks are marcato (i.e. KICK THE DOOR
           DOWN!!)

2) Tricky rhythms
        a) The first entrance!!! it's on the upbeat of three
        b) "I don't need any help" into "I can handle things"
(this is the transition from upbeat to downbeat entrances)
        c) "I am THE FIRST and the last."

3) Diction
        a) Vowels should be dark and round
        b) Consonants, whether smooth or percussive, should always be
crisp and clear. Except for "S," they should be louder
           than the preceding vowel.

4) Cut-offs: Please watch the director for these, and please make final
   "S" short and soft.

5) Sopranos and altos don't forget the DIFFERENT "I am the first and the
last" when it comes the second time around. This one starts high.

6) HAVE FUN!!!!!

I'LL TRUST YOU LORD by Donnie McClurkin

I know that faith is easy when everything is going well
But can you still believe in Me when your life's a living hell?
And when all the things around you seem to quickly fade away
There's just one thing I really want to know

Will you let go? (I'll trust you, Lord)
Will you stand on My word? (I'll trust you, Lord)
Against all odds will you believe what I have said? (I'll trust You, Lord)
What seems impossible ... (I'll trust You, Lord)
Will you believe? (I'll trust You, Lord)
Every promise that I made will you receive? (Yes, I will trust You, Lord)

I know how bad it hurt you when that loved one's life came to an end
And when they had to leve you, you said you'd never love again
But will you trust that I can help you and I'll never turn away?
Will you trust Me, child, no matter, come what may?

What if it hurts? (I'll trust You, Lord)
What if you cry? (I'll trust You, Lord)
What if it doesn't work out the first time that you try? (I'll trust You, Lord)
What if you call My name ... (I'll trust You, lord)
And you don't feel Me near? (I'll trust You, Lord)
Will you believe in Me or will you fear? Oh, my child?
(Yes, I will trust, You Lord)

I will trust (3x)
Oh, oh, oh, oh

LIFT EVERY VOICE AND SING (Black National Anthem)

Lift ev'ry voice and sing till earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of liberty.
Let our rejoicing rise high as the list'ning skies.
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.

Sing a song full of the FAITH THAT THE DARK PAST HAS TAUGHT US;
Sing a song full of the HOPE THAT THE PRESENT HAS BROUGHT US.
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.

Stony the Road we trod, bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died
Yet with a steady beat, have not out weary feet
Come to the place for which out fathers sighed?

We have come over a way that with tears has been watered
We have come treading our path thro' the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past, 'till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years, God of our silent tears,
Thou who hast brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who hast by Thy might led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.

Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee;
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand, may we forever stand
True to our God, true to our native land.

THE LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU

The Lord bless you and keep you
The Lord lift His countenance upon you
And give you peace
And give you peace

The Lord make His face to shine upon you
And be gracious
And be gracious

The Lord be gracious
Gracious unto you

Amen, Amen, Amen
Amen, Amen, Amen

T/B: Thine is the kingdom, thine is the power

All: Forever more, forever more

From the perspective of the Sopranoes, there are three "Amen"
signatures.

1) Ah, ah, ah, men Ah, ah, ah, men Ah, ah, ah, men Ah, ah,
ah, men

[remember, this is the one that goes up a half step each time
you sing it. Tenors, it is your no.3, altos, your no.2]

2)Ah, ah, ah, men Ah, ah, ah, men Ah, ah, ah, men
[remember this is the one that is the same three time. Tenor's
no.1, alto's no.3]

IMPORTANT NOTES

TIMING:
1) Many areas of this song begin on the 2 of a four beat
measure. In fact this is the case with almost all entrances in
the song leading up "This is our prayer."

Sopranoes: Remember, you begin "this is our prayer" on the up
beat between the 3 and 4; and you begin the "Amen" scheme
immediately on the 2.

T/B = the two sections sing the same pitch unless otherwise
indicated (for example, as in the "give us this day . . ." part.
S/A sing distinct pitches throughout the whole song.

He's giving sight to the blind,
He is a great emancipator,
He turns water to wine.
He even healed the ten

Whose voice can control the sea?

Some even say, "He's Emmanuel the Son of God."

Stranger from Galilee. (Hey)

THERE IS A FOUNTAIN

There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins,
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.
There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins,
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.
He is the Son of the Living God;
He's Jesus Christ, the Holy One.
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.

The dying thief rejoiced to see that fountain in his day,
And there may I, though vile as he, wash all my sins away.
He is the Son of the Living God;
He's Jesus Christ, the Holy One.
And there may I, though vile as he, wash all my sins away.

When this poor, lisping, stammering tongue lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song, I'll sing Thy pow'r to save.
He is the Son of the Living God;
He's Jesus Christ, the Holy One.
And in a nobler, sweeter song, I'll sing Thy pow'r to save
[Repeat as directed]

TRUE LOVE

Verse 1:
Love, it is a word that is easily thrown back, to and fro,
but you don't know what it means,
what it truly means to...
Love, how dare you say that what you have is what I call love - no way.
Oh, don't you know how to show ultimate, true, and pure...

Bridge:
Love, like my Jesus did show when he died for my sin,
when he took me within,
when He died... [S - unconditional; A - undeserved; TB - sacrifice].

Chorus:
Love like my Master's shown when He died on the cross.
Love like my Master's shown when my gain was His loss.
Love like my Master's shown; sacrifice is the ultimate love.

Verse 2:
Love. Oh, can't you see?
When He died for me on that wooden tree despite my past.
When I'd done wrong, gave me a song called...
Love, I did not earn.
It is a love He gave to me that I must learn.
It's for you too.
Don't try to do, just accet full and free...

Bridge

Chorus

Vamp:
Love is patient; love is kind.
It does not envy; it does not boast.
It is not proud; it is not rude.
It is not easily angered; it is not self-seeking.
It keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. (4x)

Chorus

TWENTY-ONE DAYS

Oooh [intro]

Verse 1:
Twenty-one days and nights did you cry,
watching the sun fade away.
Seems that by now your well would be dry,
but you're alone in the rain.

Refrain (chorus):
At the core of your heart lies an unspoken question,
"Does anybody care?"
Trust in His word and always believe.
He won't leave you alone.

Oooh [interlude]

Verse 2:
Twenty-one tear-stained plans gone awry,
Nothing but problems at home.
Why do you feel alone in the crowd?
Is there a friend to lean on?

Refrain (chorus)

Bridge:
...Alone. No, He'll never leave you alone. [repeat]

Vamp:
He'll be there to pick you up.
He'll be there to love you true.
But sometimes (2x) you don't know what to do.
He'll be there to wipe your tears.
He'll be there through all the years.
But sometimes nothing you do can help.
But the greatest thing He can do is to come down and work it through.
And the greatest thing He can do is to come down and work it through.
[repeat]

WHAT IF GOD

What if God is unhappy with our praise?
What if He is not pleased with the words we say?
What if He takes away His love and His Spirit from above?

What if God is unhappy with our praise?
What if God is unhappy with the way we live?
What if He is not pleased with the way we give?
What if he takes away His love and His Spirit from above?

We must change the way we walk;
We must change the way we talk.
We must live a life that's pleasing to our King.
We must read God's holy word;
Let His praises be heard.
Lord, just be pleased with our praise.

Praise (4x)
Pleased with our praise!!!
